What we do

Six capabilities under one roof

Heavy Fabrication

Structural Steel

Structural steel fabrication and installation, welded to Australian Standards under certified supervision.

On-Site Maintenance

Maintenance contracts, breakdown repairs and site fabrication with project management included.

Leadership

Thirty years in this work, in this region

FGCM was founded in 2011 by Ian and Danni Johnson. Before starting the business, Ian came up through the trade as a fitter and moved through supervision to Area Manager with G&S Engineering Services — a national mechanical and electrical maintenance contractor with permanent operations in Biloela, Mackay and Brisbane.

He founded FGCM to deliver the same standard of shutdown and maintenance work from a locally owned business, on the doorstep of the operations it serves.

Same work. Same region. Locally owned.

What that looks like on the job

Anglo Dawson CHPP
CV186 conveyor fire

The challenge

Reinstate the CV186 conveyor feeder following a fire. Harsh conditions, spontaneous combustion, a remote location, no available parts — and communications and power to the plant lost.

Our approach

FGCM fabricated and rebuilt components to OEM specification, coordinated the civil works and used local presence for quick mobilisation. Site experience and offsite workshop support kept the restoration moving.

The result

The asset was repaired ahead of schedule, under budget and incident free. Because manufacturing was available immediately, the client resumed full production and met their targets.

Overcame harsh conditions, remote location, no parts
Restored asset quickly, enabling full production

Wind & solar

As Central Queensland's renewable pipeline moves into construction, the same workshop that rebuilds dragline buckets is equipped for the heavy end of wind and solar — and sits inside the corridor rather than a freight run away from it.
